Things you should not do after diving
Flying Immediately
After a dive, your body has absorbed nitrogen, and flying too soon can lead to dangerous decompression sickness. It is recommended to wait at least 12 to 18 hours before taking a flight, or even 24 hours if you have made successive or deep dives.

Climbing to High Altitude Locations
Avoid driving to mountains or high altitude locations right after diving. The reduction in pressure can cause the rapid release of nitrogen in your body, which can lead to serious health problems.
It is advisable to wait (ideally 24 hours) before climbing more than 300 meters above sea level.

Other high altitude activities to avoid for more than 24 hours after diving
- Canopy
- Parachute jumping or skydiving
- Paragliding
- Parasailing
- Skiing or snowboarding
- Hot air balloons
Drinking Alcohol in Excess
Alcohol dehydrates the body and can make it difficult to eliminate residual nitrogen in the body, which increases the risk of decompression problems; it can also cause you to miss signs of fatigue or dizziness after diving. It is best not to mix alcohol and dive trips, but if you want to drink alcohol after diving, wait a few hours and hydrate beforehand.

Perform Intense Exercise
Your body needs time to eliminate accumulated nitrogen, intense physical exercise can speed up circulation and increase the risk of gas bubbles forming in the blood. So it is better to opt for light and relaxing activities.

Taking Hot Baths or Saunas
Excessive heat dilates blood vessels and can accelerate the release of nitrogen in your body, increasing the risk of decompression sickness.

Do Not Ignore Signs of Discomfort or Fatigue
If after diving you experience dizziness, joint pain, shortness of breath or extreme fatigue, consult a dive medicine specialist immediately. These could be signs of decompression sickness.

Avoid freediving or freediving
Freediving after a tank dive can be dangerous, as the body still has residual nitrogen and rapid pressure fluctuations can cause health problems.
