Divemaster Course Description
Divemasters are the first rung on the professional dive ladder and can assist instructors when teaching scuba courses and can have leadership responsibilities as the first level of being a professional diver. Be a dive guide, show off your finely honed skills when helping courses and get to work in this amazing industry!
Course Minimum Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certified.
- PADI Rescue Diver certified
- EFR Primary and Secondary Care completed within past two years.
- Medical Statement ‘fit to dive’.
- 40 logged dives before starting the course.
- 60 logged dives when finishing the course.
What you can do once you are an authorised PADI Divemaster
- Supervise training and non-training related diving activities
- Conduct dive briefings, scuba reviews, and skin diver course
- Assist in Discover Scuba Diving programs and lead additional dives
- Lead Discover Local Diving programs

What Equipment will you use?
As a dive professional, you’ll want to have all your basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer, a dive knife, and at least two surface signaling devices. During practical skills exercises, like underwater mapping and search and recovery, you’ll use a compass, floats, marker buoys, lift bags and slates. Your PADI Instructor may suggest additional gear that will be useful throughout your diving career.
